India Literacy Project (ILP)
Gita Krishnamurthy Vidyalaya continues to benefit from its partnership with ILP India Literacy Project – India Literacy Project (ilpnet.org) by using the learning framework & pedagogy that is a part of their MDLS (multi-dimensional learning spaces) program.
GKV’s association with ILP started in the year 2019, where they worked closely with associates from ILP to implement two of the three initiatives under the MDLS program which emphasised on:
- Creating a reading habit among students – this is the library program called GROW-BY, and,
- Having experiential learning in science through science kits, which are substituted for laboratories and experiments across the entire syllabus. The science teachers are utilising the science kits procured from ILP to learn the concepts by demonstrating experiments in the classroom.
While we continue to work closely on the above two initiatives, we are also exploring the possibility of implementing experiential learning in Social Sciences using Google Earth. This would give both students and teachers an immersive experience as they trace India’s rich heritage and history while navigating through their curriculum.
