GKV student represents TN in National Handball Tournament

The 68th National School Games Handball Under-17 Girls’ Championship was organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in Mahabubnagar, Telangana from 10th to 14th January 2025. Out of the two GKV students sent for the selection competition for the Tamil Nadu state team, Santhiya of class X, who is the captain of the GKV girls handball team, got selected and proudly represented Tamil Nadu and GKV at this national tournament.


36 teams from various states participated in the tournament and were divided into two pools A & B. The Tamil Nadu team was in Pool A. After practice sessions in Kancheepuram on 7th and 8th Jan, the TN team reached Telangana in time for the tournament inauguration on 10th January. . Tamil Nadu beat Gujarat in its 1st match 18 to 8 with Santhiya scoring 5 goals. Tamil Nadu then went on to beat Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to reach the quarter finals where it unfortunately lost to Rajasthan.


As a state level player , Santhiya now has the privilege of getting admission in any state college of her choice. All the staff and students of GKV are immensely proud of Santhiya’s achievement and wish her a bright and successful future. Many congratulations to the PT master Mr Siva Subramani without whose efforts and encouragement this achievement would not have been possible.
