The school currently has over 500 children from LKG up to Grade 10, with over 50% female students. GKV is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu State Board curriculum and strives to adopt the best pedagogical approaches to provide high-quality education to students at no cost. These children come from low-income families, typically with their parents having had no education themselves and working as daily wage workers, small shop owners, drivers, marginal farmers, domestic helpers, etc. No distinction is made based on religion, caste or creed. Economic conditions are the sole admission criteria, with a preference to maintain a strong gender ratio.
