GKV participation in BuZZ 12.0
BuZZ 12.0, the flagship annual literary conference, organised by Beehive communication club was held on 6th December 2025(Saturday) at R J Mandra English School, Virudhnagar. The event focuses on communicative English training, competitions, and educational sessions for school students. Schools that are associated with Beehive participated. Our students participated in all the 15 events and exhibited their talents. Our participation in the written competitions was appreciated and the team bagged the ‘CALLIGRAPHY CREW’ award. Lingeswaran of Class II participated in the “Ears up” competition and got 4th place among 35 schools. He was given the award ‘GOLDEN BEE’. Hari Dharshini of class IV participated in “Chat-Chat” event. She was one among the 35 competitors and secured the 4th place to her credit. She was awarded the certificate of ‘DIAMOND BEE’ . Overall the performance of the GKV children was appreciated and the “BEACON OF STUDENT EMPOWERNMENT” shield was bestowed upon us. It was an exciting and engaging experience for the students that will help them grow their overall Communication skills. GKV participation in Kiddival 2025
Our school community is overjoyed to share that our students participated at Kiddival 2025, an interschool talent fest hosted by RMKV Silks in collaboration with Rotary Club of Tirunelveli West and Rotary Club of Tirunelveli Venuvanam, for the 11th year. Designed for learners from Kindergarten to Grade 5, the event offers a vibrant stage for children to display their skills, imagination, and confidence. This year’s event was held at Sarah Tucker Women’s College at Tirunelveli on 22nd November 2025 with participation from children of 65 schools .GKV students participated in 18 events. The events are very competitive and it is a challenge for our students to win. Nevertheless, they performed creditably and benefited from the experience of participation. Highlights off the accomplishments of our students in this year’s Kiddival competition : Out of 65 schools, we were one of only 6 schools to clear the prelims of the Quiz and reach the final round where we lost by a narrow margin. In Word Power, Out of 60 schools, our Students Maharaja Raja of Class V and Dharshini of Class IV got the 3rd Place. In the K.G Level, our Student Fathima Fariha of UKG got the Consolation prize for the Fancy Dress Competition. Founder Trustee passes away
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Founder Trustee, Mr. A. Krishnamurthy, on 7th Nov-25. Mr. Krishnamurthy’s vision and compassion gave life to this school for the less privileged. While the inspiration of the school was his wife, Gita Krishnamurthy who was an educator, it did not take long for him to transform from his corporate avatar to one where he had to set-up a trust, administer it , and identify and work with a partner (Sri Jai Sankara Educational Trust) to setup the school and ensure that it functioned as per the vision and values of the trust. His determination and unshakeable belief in the power of education has transformed the lives of numerous economically and socially disadvantaged families in the area and has inspired all of us to come together to achieve Gita’s dream. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will continue to shine through every classroom, every smile, and every dream nurtured here. We, the teachers & staff of Gita Krishnamurthy Vidyalaya and Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Golden Jubilee school along with the trustees, remain committed to carrying forward his mission — that of ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Gayathri shines at zonal level athletics
The Zonal Games and Sports at GHSS Munnirpallam were conducted on 31st July and 1st August 2025, with enthusiastic participation from schools around the zone. These events showcased a variety of sports disciplines and brought together students from multiple institutions in a spirited display of athletic prowess and teamwork. These competitions aim to promote sportsmanship, identify talent, and select teams for upcoming district and state-level championships. Gayathri Lakshmi of class X, who is also part of the school handball team, brought laurels to the school by winning the gold medals in 3000metre dash, 1500metre dash and 800 metre dash . Having won the zonal level, she will now represent the school at the district level. Wishing her the very best for continued success in athletics!
Profiling Sathish Kumar – The first Engineering graduate of GKV
It is extremely gratifying for the staff, management and trustees of the school to have one of its alumni graduate with an engineering degree and join the IT industry.Below is a profile of Sathish , a proud GKV alumni of the class of 2019 and the first engineering graduate from the school in his own words. We hope he will be in an inspiration to the GKV alumni – here is wishing him a fruitful career!! “When the school was started, it was a blessing for families like mine — middle-class, with big dreams but limited resources. With a monthly fee of just ₹50, this English-medium school gave us something we never thought we could afford — quality education with confidence. I come from a humble family. My father is a self-employed plumbing worker, and my mother is a homemaker. My father’s work is not regular throughout the month, which often made our financial situation uncertain. Despite the challenges, my parents always prioritized our education. I also have a younger sister who is currently pursuing her first year of B.Sc. Computer Science at K.R. Arts College in Kovilpatti. We are a middle-class family with strong values and a deep belief in hard work and education.I studied at Gita Krishnamurthy Vidyalaya from 1st to 10th standard. The learning environment was not just about textbooks — it shaped my personality. I learned academics, general knowledge, discipline, creativity, and how to carry myself with confidence. The teachers were my guiding lights, always encouraging me and bringing out the best in me.Thanks to the strong foundation I received here, I secured a seat at Sri Jayendra Saraswati Golden Jubilee School for my higher secondary education with minimal fees. After that, I pursued a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, and successfully completed my four-year degree. I am also proud to say that I am the first graduate in my family. My school experience helped me greatly during college. I never had stage fear, and I was comfortable communicating in English — even with foreign guests — something that started during my school days. The confidence to speak up, lead, and express myself came from the exposure and encouragement I received at Gita Krishnamurthy Vidyalaya. During my college years, I also explored my passion for technology and creativity. I learned about design and animation. In fact, my interest in drawing, crafting, and designing began right from school — and those small creative beginnings inspired me to build a career in 2D/3D animation and creative media. Today, I work as a 2D/3D Animator out of my home in Tirunelveli for Iyannar Infotech – a technology services company based in Chennai. I am currently working on a project with Vizboxx, a US based 3D solutions company. My journey — from a student in a small English-medium school to a creative professional — is something I carry with pride and gratitude. Gita Krishnamurthy Vidyalaya was not just my school — it was the stepping stone to everything I am today. “
Incoming LKG class of 2025
Through a process of drawing lots , 45 students were selected from over 150 applications for admission to LKG. 24 girls and 21 boys started their journey of learning at GKV on 5th June 2025. The school now has a strength of 467 students (211 boys and 256 girls) with a single section of 35-45 students across LKG to 10th standard. As has been the case in the past, children admitted to LKG come from economically disadvantaged families – 60% of the families have an income of less than Rs 1 Lakh and 33% of the students’ families have an annual income between Rs 1 Lakhs and 1.5 Lakhs. Moreover, over 75% of the parents work in the informal sector with jobs such as driver, electrician, carpenter, plumber, cook, welder, watchman, mason etc.
Class of 2025 Results Summary
53 out of the 54 students(26 boys and 27 girls) of GKV have passed the TN state board 10th standard examinations which was conducted in March-April 2025. The 98.14% pass percentage of the school compares very creditably with the overall state wide pass percentage of 93.8%(government schools – 91,26%, private schools – 97.99%) With this, a total of 310 students (158 boys and 152 girls) have now passed out of GKV. Further, 40 of the students have passed with an aggregate score of over 60% and out of this 24 have scored over 75% . Moreover , 9 students (7 girls, 2 boys) have an aggregate of over 90% with the highest being a score of 98.6% (Archana K). Also two students scored 100% in social studies and science respectively. 24 of these students have been admitted in the partner school Jayendra for pursuing secondary education while the others are in the process of seeking admission in polytechnic or secondary education in other institutions. 24 of these students have been admitted in our partner school Jayendra for pursuing secondary education while the others are in the process of seeking admission in polytechnic or secondary education in other institutions. Graduates of GKV as on June 2025
The first batch of students passed the Tamil Nadu board SSLC examinations and graduated from the school in 2019. With the latest batch of students to complete the Tamil Nadu Board public examinations for the 10th standard in 2025 six batches comprising 310 students (176 girls, 134 boys) have passed out of GKV. Of these, 15 are now working including the school’s first engineering graduate. Most of the remaining are pursuing higher education.
Sporting achievements in Feb 2025
On 2nd February, Pravin.D of class VIII took part in the RMKV Nellai Marathon 2025 organized by Nellai Runners Trust at Anna Stadium, Tirunelveli. He was among the boys and girls who finished the 5 km run within the prescribed time and received a medal. We wish him the very best to continue to pursue his passion in long distance running. The 3rd South District Level Yoga, Archery, Carrom and Chess Championship 2025 organized by Sai Academy, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District was held at Vivekananda vidhyashram Matric Higher Secondary School, Vannarpettai on 8th February 2025.This is the second year, our students participated in this event. 34 students from classes 6 through 8 participated in the yoga competition. Our school was among the schools in the district that were awarded an achievement plaque based on the number of students who participated in the event and the quality of the yoga postures . We congratulate all the winners and participants. On 9th February 2025 , Manikandan of class VI participated in the 3rd South district Yoga Championship 2025 organized by Maveeran Bhagat Singh Blood donation trust and Philips sports club & Ashoka sports club, held at Kovilpatti. He won the 1st prize in the yoga competition and was awarded a plaque and certificate. The South District Art Festival Competition 2025 organized by Tamil Cultural & Sports Trust held at Unnamalai Institute of Technology, Kovilpatti on 23rd February 2025. Some of our students from class V to VIII participated in the Silambam competition and won prizes. GKV student represents TN in National Handball Tournament
Tamil Nadu girls U-17 handball team – Santhiya is standing 2nd from the left Tamil Nadu team Tee’ing off against Madhya Pradesh The 68th National School Games Handball Under-17 Girls’ Championship was organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in Mahabubnagar, Telangana from 10th to 14th January 2025. Out of the two GKV students sent for the selection competition for the Tamil Nadu state team, Santhiya of class X, who is the captain of the GKV girls handball team, got selected and proudly represented Tamil Nadu and GKV at this national tournament. 36 teams from various states participated in the tournament and were divided into two pools A & B. The Tamil Nadu team was in Pool A. After practice sessions in Kancheepuram on 7th and 8th Jan, the TN team reached Telangana in time for the tournament inauguration on 10th January. . Tamil Nadu beat Gujarat in its 1st match 18 to 8 with Santhiya scoring 5 goals. Tamil Nadu then went on to beat Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to reach the quarter finals where it unfortunately lost to Rajasthan. As a state level player , Santhiya now has the privilege of getting admission in any state college of her choice. All the staff and students of GKV are immensely proud of Santhiya’s achievement and wish her a bright and successful future. Many congratulations to the PT master Mr Siva Subramani without whose efforts and encouragement this achievement would not have been possible.
