Bhoomi Puja – 10th July 2013

GKV school has been operating out of rented facilities since its inception in June 2009. In 2012 land was acquired  to construct a permanent building with facilities and amenities comparable to any mainstream school.  The 2.9 acres of land is part of a larger township providing housing to teachers and other staff of Jayendra High School.

Ever since GKV started in 2009 it has been a tradition to conduct  an annual  mini-convocation and sports day function towards the end of the academic year. The 4rth such  function was held on 11th April  2013 in the premises of Jayendra school.  Sports competitions such as sack race, musical chairs, bursting the balloons etc  were held for each class.

The students participated with high energy and enthusiasm watched by their parents and siblings. Mrs Nirmala Ramarathnam , a trustee of Jaisankar Trust and Mrs Kasualya the Principal of GKV co-ordinated the entire function. Bhasker Sharma, a trustee of GKV, was also present along with his wife and daughter. While all the children who gave their best were winners the top three in each event was recognised  with a medal. After the sporting events the 70 or so children graduating from UKG to 1st Standard were individually called upon the stage and awarded a diploma. The function ended with a well spoken vote of thanks from Chitra then  a student of class 4 of GKV. It was great to see the passion and commitment of the teachers of GKV and teachers and student volunteers Jai Sankara school which resulted in a well organised function. The energy, skills and competitive spirit of the young children , most of whom were first generation school goers, was quite amazing!!
